From a young age, Kevin was captivated by the water, leading to early interests in fishing and diving. As a teenager, he began earning money from his passion, starting with cleaning charter boats after fishing trips and eventually working as a mate on those vessels. At 18, he joined the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, serving for just over two years. Upon returning, he ventured into sales and established a successful trading company in the S&P 500 futures market. This business was both profitable and fulfilling until the volatility following 9/11 made the strategies too risky. At that point, Kevin chose to step back and reconnect with his love for the water.

He launched a successful charter business and became a professional fisherman, competing in tournaments and securing sponsorships. During this time, Kevin gained extensive experience with boats and eventually took on the role of corporate captain for a large boat retail company, further honing his skills. After several years, he developed a solid client base of boat owners whose vessels he managed. In 2007, he founded Yacht Concierge, which quickly thrived. To streamline operations, Kevin created his first app, as existing solutions did not meet his organizational needs. He continued to refine this app until closing Yacht Concierge in 2016 to pursue a full-time career as a mega yacht captain.

In 2020, Kevin opened another yacht management company and rebuilt the app, recognizing the lack of effective tools for managing technicians, boat washers, and detailers in the industry. By 2023, he decided to share this app with the marine sector, providing others with resources that had enabled him to build a successful yacht repair company and exceed client expectations. The result was Yacht Logic Pro, a tool designed for professionals that Kevin spent 18 months refining to keep teams organized and businesses profitable.

In 2022, while utilizing his original app, Kevin became a partner in a fleet of yachts that included a 132’ Trident, a 61’ sportfish, and a 36’ Invincible as a tender. Excited to realize his dream of partnering in a mothership operation, he quickly faced unexpected challenges, particularly with crew issues. Despite his extensive experience, Kevin found his expertise undervalued. After nearly a year of crew turnover and multiple captains, he and his partners decided that he would take over the boat, set things right, and eventually train a new captain to succeed him.

Upon taking command, Kevin discovered a disorganized crew lacking clear duties and checklists. He promptly implemented daily checklists for guest arrivals and departures, established departure protocols, and created inventory lists. The app allowed him to assign tasks to teams or individual crew members, track punch lists, and work toward running a successful charter yacht. After leaving the partnership, Kevin recognized that the issues he encountered were prevalent throughout the industry, leading him to develop Yacht Logic. His goal was to share these tools with other captains and crew to enhance efficiency and reduce the micromanagement that often plagues the industry.

In summary, Kevin founded Yacht Logic to address persistent challenges he encountered throughout his extensive career in various marine industries. As both a marine repair business owner and an active mega yacht captain, he offers a unique perspective that sets him apart from traditional software companies. He is eager to demo the apps and demonstrate how they can help make other yachts and businesses as successful as his own.
